The Original Barn

Picture
The first barn, built in the 1850's, burnt down from the hay spontaneously igniting. It happened very fast. According to one neighbor, they saw black smoke coming out of one of the top windows, and seconds later the whole thing was in flames.
The present barn was built in 1975 and was the last "barn raiser" in this community. It was a real community effort. According to one neighbor who managed the project, the concrete foundation was hand poured by a team of people with wheel barrows. Truly amazing! They held a community barn dance after it was completed to celebrate!

We have inherited this marvelous legacy and we are grateful to be able to share this legacy with all who come to the farm.

Live at The Barn

Halifax band, Ostrea Lake preforms
live at the barn.

3 different bands came down from Halifax to The Barn to play for the evening. It was a wonderful event. Many stayed overnight and in the morning we had a wonderful waffle breakfast. A big hit!
