An Introduction to the Carpenter's
​Tool Box for Beginners

Lloyd has been a carpenter and fine woodworker for over 30 years.
​He wants to make his knowledge and experience available to you.

Learning carpentry skills is an important first step.
Build up foundational skill and feel confident to do the things you want to do by learning how to use the hand tools and power tools that you need.

This course will:
  • introduce you to basic and essential carpenter's tools.​
  • help you feel comfortable around power tools and give you the confidence to use them safely.
  • teach basic skills and give you the chance to practice them.
  • ​show you how to accomplish different tasks from accurate cutting to simple joinery for projects around the home.
  • empower you to get started making things.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations made up to 14 days before the beginning of workshop will receive a full refund minus the non-refundable deposit 
  • Cancellations made within 14 days of the start of the workshop will receive a %50 refund 
  • There are no refunds for cancellations made after the start of the workshop. Depending on circumstances - a credit may be offered for future courses. This will be assessed on an individual basis. ​

There will be a 1 hour lunch break every day

There are a number of places to get food for lunch within a
10 minute drive from the farm.

You can also bring your own lunch and enjoy it at the farm.

Course Outline

The use of both hand tools and power tools
will be taught in the context of
​students making a simple small project.

Day 1 - Hand Tools

An introduction to the safe use of a wide-variety of hand tools.

Learn the proper use of basic hand tools.

Practice using hand tools to accomplish a variety of carpentry tasks.

​Also included will be the use of fasteners and basic wood joints used to securely join materials in carpentry projects..

Day 2 - Power Tools

Learn the safe operation of common portable power tools utilized in carpentry. 

Learn the safe operation of a table saw.

Practice using power tools in order
​to feel comfortable and confident in accomplishing a variety of tasks.

The creation and use of a variety of jigs for achieving consistent and accurate results will also be demonstrated.
