Day 1
Plan and design your project
Tools and Techniques
Bring your project and/or ideas!
Don't have any particular project in mind but just want to dive in?
Lloyd can provide project ideas..
Morning
Lloyd will introduce you to some basic woodworking tools and how to use them. Included will be demonstrating a few basic joinery techniques and ways to approach your project.
Morning/Afternoon
Once having done an overview of some basic joinery techniques, together we will plan your project - from how you want to build it (using what you have just learned), to the materials you need and the tools required.
By designing your project together, you will learn to understand the different ways of fastening wood together. You will learn about wood movement, glue surfaces and begin to understand how to work with the medium of wood so that you can build something that is structurally sound, functions well and is aesthetically pleasing.
Afternoon
Practice and become familiar with using a table saw, mitre saw, router, hammer and chisels, drills and jigs in order to feel confident in tackling your project.
Practicing these will help you with Day 2 and 3 - making your project.

Day 2 & 3
Make Your Project
The materials needed for your project will be unique to your project and is why there is a 1 week break between Day 1 and the other two classes.
Having had Day 1 to design the project, figure out the approach and put together a material and tool list, the one week break gives students the chance to get what they need for their project and bring them to class the following weekend.
(Students will have access to tools like a table saw, mitre saw, circular saw and router in the class so no need to worry about purchasing these)
Having had the chance to become familiar with the tools and the different ways to join wood, you will spend the next two days making your creation!
Lloyd will continue to teach, guide and help you as you go through the process, making sure you get the most out of the experience, do it yourself, learn as much as you can and feel good about what you have accomplished!
